In Japanese, 'akuma' (悪魔) essentially means demon, and 'sah' is a way of saying "I don't know".

As to why the lens was modified that way, I have no idea, as it was that way when I acquired it.

Strange, looks like the missing letters were drilled out?

I’ve read the Asahi items with defaced brand material were what we would call Grey market today. At the time the Distributor Contracts were more exclusive and strict, so the brand identifiers were required to be defaced by the ex-Distributor importers. Sometimes this happened with military PX sales. I hav a 28/3.5 Takumar hood with neatly drilled T and r.

I was shopping around for a pancake and a super wide for my MX, and ended up with this. Summer heatwave is getting to my head, time to cool down...

New seals on these two beautiful 35mms. Easier to do once you do it a few times... Mine is the black - the metal will be a gift to a good friend (along with 2 OM lenses - the 50/1.8 Japan it has on, and a JCPenney 135/2.8... the JCPenney is actually a hidden-gem).

I had a JCP 135f2.8 with ‘macro’ that I gave to my sister in law. It was a really decent lens, especially for the price...

Yes, Eric... this JCP is made in Korea, so perhaps a Samyang. I actually took some Digital samples with the JCP (through a Cannon - OM to EOS mount is easy to find), and I was rather impressed.

Yeah, Honeywell had the brand authority in the US when it came to Asahi Pentax products. I've seen Asahi Pentax cameras where the Asahi was rather rudely defaced. I would have been royally pissed if somebody did that to my camera if I were a soldier or sailor who'd just completed a stint overseas, only to come home to such nonsense. Or what -- are you saying that the items at the PX were already defaced? Yeck.

Does this count as gear porn? Someone just gave me 38 rolls of (very) expired 120 film. There is even a roll of Kodachrome in there for good measure. Additionally he gave me about 300 sheets of black and white 8x10 paper, and 100 sheets of color 8x10 paper.

Should I shoot the Kodachrome and develop as black and white?

The film inventory after I went though it all last night:

Kodak Plus-X 125 pan 4 rolls 7/1993
Kodak Technical Pan 25 1 rolls 12/1999
Kodak T400CN (C41) 2 rolls 01/2001
Kodak T400CN (C41) 1 roll 07/1999
Kodak Verichrome pan VP 125 4 rolls 12/1987
Kodak TMax 100 TMX 2 rolls ???
Kodak TMax 400 TMY 4 rolls ???
Ilford XP1 400 (C41) 1 roll 01/1995

Fujicolor SuperG 100 (CN120) 4 rolls ???
Fujicolor SuperG 400 (CH120) 1 roll ???
Kodak Vericolor III Professional 160 Type S 1 roll 12/1991
Konica Color SR-G160 2 rolls 08/1992

Kodak EPP Ektachrome 100 plus 3 rolls 01/1992
Kodak EPY Ektachrome 50 1 roll 12/1988
Kodak EPT Ektachrome 160T 2 rolls 09/1994
Fujifilm RDPII Provia 100 4 rolls 07/2000

Kodak Kodachrome 64 PKR 1 roll 09/1989
