Although not nearly as exotic as many of the cameras posted here, I managed to score a new-old-stock Pentax *-ist from a local retailer. I guess it has just been sitting in their stockroom, gathering dust, for the last 10 or 15 years. Shown with the SMC DA 70/2.4 Limited mounted.
That's really a nice little camera. Accurate AF and Metering. I think it gets a bad rep because of the Cripple K mount. Not deserved though. I shoot mine with the DA 40 or a silver FA 28-105. Nice combinations.
Good Find.

Thanks. It is also really light, and feels kind of plasticy, which probably also contributes to its bad rep. I don't mind it. I've got the DA 40 XS on it this week, which is supposed to be good stopped down a little. I told my wife I needed a silver FA 31 for it. That didn't go over very well ...

It really seems to shine with the D-FA 100/2.8 WR Macro:

How do you find the KX? I’m looking at picking one up (it’s attached to a lens I want )
I have owned and used the Pentax Spotmatic, K2, KX, MX, ME and ME Super. The KX is my favourite by far. The KX seems to be very well built, as far as I know it as mostly made from metall parts. The viewfinder is smaller than the one on the MX, but I find the KX viewfinder to be better for me. The ergonomics and the placement of all controls on the camera are almost perfect, and results in a very enjoyable photographic experience. If you find a nice KX - buy it and send it to Eric H. for CLA.

Ooh, very pretty! I have a chrome KX, but wish it were black.

Nick, I like the KX better than the MX. Yes, it is bigger and heavier and doesn't have interchangeable focusing screens and doesn't take a motor drive accessory. But it has two advantages -- first is one I prefer -- match-needle metering, and second, it has mirror lock up, which is always nice to have when using high magnification or long telephotos.
I agree. Also, I have big hands and long fingers--and a little "arthuritis"--so the KX is easier to use than the little MX, which makes me scrunch up my fingers too much. I have a motor drive for my MX, which bulks it up a little, but I still prefer to use the KX.

amazon.com : Flipbac FBG3 Camera Grip for Point & Shoot Digital Cameras : Camera Cases : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

I use these on both my K2 and K1000. Soft rubber, easy to cut and form to fit, and the adhesive isn't very strong so you can try it for a while and if you don't like it, they'll come right off. I cut the bottom end off mine and made a rear thumbgrip for both cameras, and I love it for both cameras. Because I love it, I went ahead and gorilla-glued them on both cameras and they are now firmly secure... no slippage. The cameras feel more like the Super Program now. Recommended if you think the grips are uncomfortable like I did.

I got a nice surprise in the mail today. I won an eBay auction for $36.55 shipped and got a Pentax ES with S-M-C 55/1.8 and case. The item was as-is which turned out to be clean excellent condition with accurate working meter and shutter.

The problem I most commonly see with those is an inconsistent shutter. Like it will work for five actuations, then get stuck.
