Asahi Pentax #134818 Pictured with a Takumar 105/2.8 Pre-Set I bought from the same seller and a Takumar 55/2.2 Pr-Set scored here on the forum. The AP has been serviced, is working perfectly and is very clean and scratch free- EXCEPT for one, nasty dent at the point of the pentaprism. Oh well, without the dent the camera would have cost $150 more and I would not have it! Both lenses are near mint.

A quantitative way to find both your effective film speed and find your BW development time. For years I've used a hack of converting a Pentax one-degree spot meter into a densitometer. But this X-Rite 301 is more accurate and a snap to use by comparison.

I don’t know. It’s useful and not very attractive. Kind of violates the spirit of the thread, doesn’t it

A very handy gizmo in the right hands, though.

Gear P0rn thread, right? It looks like photo gear to me. Not much different than a flash or light meter. And it looks a lot better than my one-degree spot meter hack.

Hello,

I took my Yashica Mat 124G out today with a roll of Ilford 100 B&W 120 film to photograph a lighthouse at sunrise.
Shot with the K-01/ XS40

Thanks,

Nice. Do you have any filters for that Yashica? On a photography note, I found good discussions for the unique attributes of the square composition on painting forums.

Thanks! I held a red filter over the lens but I need to find the correct way. Re-learning
it as this is the first time I use this camera in over 2 decades. Sending the first roll to Dwayne's as I type this...

Thanks,

Similar to regular P0rn, whether the subject is appealing is largely a matter of taste and as we all know, there is no accounting for taste. I personally find the subject quite alluring.

He called my baby ugly. It's a basic workhorse of a densitometer which I never thought - or cared - about its aesthetic appeal.

Wow! does this take me back
Brooks Institute, early '80s
An exercise with Tri-X, & D76, a 9-exposure array from over-exposed & over-developed to under-exposed and under-developed, grey scales in each sheet, read them & plot curves all by hand. Used them for other things too, but that one exercise sticks in my mind.
This may be a slightly newer model than we used, but same set up.

Nice shot again Tuco,

Nice shot again Tuco,
Thanks again. Yeah it's good for characteristic curve plots as well as finding the development times for the Zone System N-1, N+1, etc expansion/compression dev times. The unfortunate thing about this densitometer is it has limited use for pyro stained negatives (only speed tests and base + fog readings) which I develop with too. For a pyro negative you need the blue channel of a color densitometer to read the highlights.

Does that density of 1.25 seen on my X-Rite ring a bell? It is the Zone VIII density between a condenser enlarger ( typically 1.15 - 1.25) and a diffusion enlarger (typically 1.25 - 1.35 target density range).
