My wallet would not help much - I'd need a magic wand to buy that stuff.

Come on. It's not all ludicrous. The gold & snake(?) skin "Sultan of Brunei" M6 is estimated at a mere €30,000-35,000.

I'm good till I get better at this. Interesting details you notice too late is that this 55mm looks like it says "66" instead in this picture (not in reality). Oh well.

Does it count if the gear is out of focus?

Curiouser and curiouser. I was trying to do research on this variant of the
early M42 version of the 500mm f/5 Takumar - Model I. I couldn't find a photo
of any M42 Model I Takumars. Plenty of the Asahiflex 500 and tons of the
Pentax Model II. Even Oosten's picture of one appears to be a drawing of a
Pentax stuck on the Asahiflex lens. Has anyone here seen the lens or a photo of
one?

Advertised as in excellent condition. But the shutter is broke. This is my second try at getting a compact travel camera. The previous one had problems too. I think I'll try to find a parts camera with a working shutter.

Thats so nice. I assume it is yours? I think the Asahiflex 500mm f5 and the Takumar version 1 is approx the same lens. Check out this site as well: 1 : 5 f=500 Models I&II (326) - Takumar Field Guide

Reach out to the gentleman behind that site and offer your pictures. I think he would like that very much.

This lens arrived from the UK today. I didn't think I would ever find one, to be honest.

It was sold as the standard lens for the Pentax S, but you will most likly find the Takumar 55mm f2.2 on that camera. Not many of these were made.

Perhaps but I want to fill the gap in my medium format sizes of 6x4.5. And to get a compact size as the GS645 plus a 'whopping' 15 frames per roll would make for a good film travel camera. What I dislike the most is paying top dollar for a 'parts camera'.

Yes, unfortunately there are a lot of worn out GS645 out there. Would be a prfect travel companion without AF issues. I once had a GA645Zi, quite nice zoom and great lens but the autofocus did not always nail it. I thought about a GA645(i) but the prices went crazy and I am not sure I could trust the AF more than the Zi.

And the GF670 ist just too expensive.

I read this a lot about old Fuji medium format cameras. I'm not sure if it's because they were used a lot by pros who put a lot of miles on their clocks or if the design or build of the shutters isn't great.

Of the medium format cameras I've used for travel, the Franka Solida III (which has a built-in but un-coupled rangefinder and an f/2.9 lens) is the most light and compact. Of course everything's manual but at least the rangefinder makes focus reliable. It's 6x6 though, and a very different beast from these much more modern Fuji rangefinders.

Very nice photo though, it's a beautiful camera.

Here is a photo of a price list for Honeywell. and it shows the version 1 of the lens.
