Originally posted by Lord Lucan I am guessing that such cases were meant for sales demonstrations. I cannot imagine anyone would need to buy all that kit (other than as a collectors item of course). For example you would not need the winder if you also had the motor drive, you would not need both the AF-1 and AF-2 viewfinders, and you would not need the plastic grip if you were going to carve your own wooden one! - you would prefer one or the other.
What is the item to the left of the AF400T flash? It's shoulder battery pack? I notice that in the one for sale in the CollectBlend link there is a hot shoe grip in that place. As a matter of interest, does the NiCad battery pack(s) still hold charge after 40 years?
I would agree it is a demonstration / presentation kit. The wider and the motor drive, and two grips, make more sense if there is a second body in the appropriate spot - see my picture to see what the set looks like now. The lack of FF-1 viewfinder needs addressed!
The pack to the left is the TR power pack for the flash. I also have the hot shoe grip, but the power pack fits nicely so It'll stay there.
I'm planning to try charging the battery pack to see, maybe this weekend. I doubt it, but that does not concern me much as i have one that does hold a charge.
I do wonder what this round translucent plastic piece is that came in a Pentax pouch? Anyone have any ideas?
