I’ve owned my M2 since 2014 and have never bothered with lens caps. Just chuck a UV or yellow filter on and away you go, you can’t forget that way

As for digital, my experiences have turned me right off Nikon - poor ergonomics, poor controls, unnecessary limitations and poor image quality.
There’s no accounting for taste! I’ve been using a Z6 for a while now as a digital platform for my manual lenses (my first digital Nikon), and I’ve found it excellent across the board.

I've a couple of older Pentax that are still film worthy. My H1a has a 55mm f/2 semi-auto Takumar lens and with it the 35mm f/3.5 semi-auto Takumar. The second camera is a Pentax SV with a 55mm f/1.8 Super-Takumar and the clip-on meter all in good working condition.

That’s pretty racy and should have been labeled NSFW (not safe for wallet).

I've started collection Nikon's too this year...I've got two F2s, a black Nikkormat FTN and ELW and Nikon EL2...plus about a dozen AI lenses...so the FM line is in my sights. I originally wanted the FM when I bought my first SLR. As I recall the FM was $279 (around 1979-80), an OM-1n was $259 and the Pentax MX was $225...so I ended up with the MX....which I don't regret. But the FM2 is one hell of a mechanical camera.

I used to have both clip on meters but the other one died and I tried to repair it myself... Now the other style meter is hard to find compared to this one.

The EL2 is the most exquisitely manufactured camera I own, with the exception of my Leica IIIc It is such a shame about the battery compartment! But of the electronic cameras of that era and price range I prefer the Canon EF, Pentax K2 and (my favourite in this class) the Minolta XE1/7.The FM's are nice and my new FM2/T especially so, but I have to say I prefer my MX's for general use. I always wanted to like the Olympus, but I have never got on with the shutter speed position, despite a couple of attempts over the years.

I have a Great Camera Club / Flickr friend who buys gear at Car Boot Sales and sometimes GIVES me cameras he has bought ! I gave me a COSINA CSM M42 screw mount and i have taken some test shots with it and tried PENTAX M42 lenses with it. I had to renew the foam seal along the film track and door. It has a strange 'Double-Action' stop-down and as you press shutter release it stops lens down and LED's come on at top and you turn Aperture until you get a GREEN LED then exposure is supposed to be balanced.

Sporting dual PC sockets that must be a fairly old camera, but at least in the posted image, both camera body & lens look remarkably clean & new.

The question might then be is the second socket FP or M? Edit: camera-wiki say M; also says camera has over/under LED display.

My recently acquired Contax IIIa and Zeiss Sonnar 50/1.5 next to my Soviet built Kiev-2a and Jupiter-8 50/2. The Kiev and Jupiter-8 are essentially a Contax II and Zeiss Sonnar 50/2 so these cameras are kinda like first cousin.
They are sitting on a Japanese styled bench that I made using only hand tools (no power tools) way back in 2007.

It appears that the Kiev has a significantly longer rangefinder base. True?

Yes, the Contax II/Kiev has a longer rangefinder base than the post-war Contax IIIa and IIa.

These two new lenses came in over the past two days.

MX with smc Pentax-M 85mm F2 and the LX with smc Pentax 28mm SHIFT.

I am looking forward to taking both out for a spin. The shift lens will be a new experience.
