I have always considered the Spotties to have understated elegance, never surpassed and rarely matched. That's just my opinion.

The migty Chinon - one of these was owned by a high school buddy back in the 80's... we did't know what to think of it's odd name. How old is this one?

Well it is a heavy one!!!

This should be from the early 1980's. I ran a roll through it - clean and nice.

The Spottie was the camera that started me with Pentax. My dad in photo passed me this camera and lens. The lens is the 8 element 50mm F1:1.4 Super Takumar.
The photo was probably taken by my mother on another film camera in the mid 70s.

Classic cameras don't have to be fancy to take a good picture of them.

Pentax Zoom 105 Super par Kris Lockyear, on ipernity

This is a camera of its time. It is pretty ugly, but has a myriad of features including close-up settings and so on. I managed to use about 2/3rds of a roll before it stopped playing ball. It still sort of works (enough for the photo) but I wouldn't use another roll in it. Some of the pictures and sharp, some are terrible. I don't think the autofocus is very good.

Despite the current fad for using film compact cameras, in general I find them very disappointing and would rather use an SLR. The MX with the 40mm pancake lens is no bigger than this ugly beast.
I don't have the Zoom 105, but I do have the Zoom 90WR, which is Pentax's water resistant version.
The result that I have got from it have been nothing but superb - focus and exposure. I'm thinking the 105 would be similar as long as it wasn't abused etc. Was your a charity shop find?

These empty boxes were in a box that I haven't looked in for a long time. I forgot all about them. I purchased the Pentax 6x7 new sometime in 1989.

That's quite a set-up you invested in! Not jealous... Not jealous at all...
