While on the subject, anyone know of a good photographic store for buying film in Honolulu and/or San Francisco?

Thanks, Kris.
This looks like a good place that's open 7 days a week. I'm sure they sell some film.

geez! I wish i needed to buy film in honolulu! Enjoy the trip!!

I won't mention Perth and Sydney beforehand then, or New York after San Francisco!

The first half of the trip is for work, the second half is holiday.

Well, guys...my nearest Walgreen's is packing up their film processing equipment next month. Currently, it's down and they are in no hurry to repair it. For the time-being, the next closest one is still going but the specialist said the store isn't making much of a return on processing. The handwriting appears to be on the wall, for my area Walgreen's too..

And to finish it off, yesterday I found a compact film Leica (probably a Minolta except for the red dot!) for $95. My test roll of C-41 is the one I dropped off tonight

Send your film to Gordon's Photo Service in Northern Nevada. They will happily process your film. That's where I get mine developed.

AFIK no Walgreen's in the south Atlanta area process film. I took a cart of AgfaColor to my local Rite-Aid recently; they'd promised one week turnaround, they took two weeks. WalMart in this area, and apparently in coastal South Carolina sends its film out, returns a CD and prints, and THROWS AWAY THE NEGATIVES! Most of the "associates" at the WallyWorld stores where I've asked about processing seemed to see this as "just fine," although one old hand said, sotto voce, that she was appalled. Wolf Photo has been eviscerated, perhaps due to the Rock 'n' Roll lifestyle of its upper management. The local Wolf - about 2 miles from me - was my C-41 haven. As a result I bought some gear from them. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, who appreciated Pentax. What wasn't to like??

Oops! I just noticed that several do, including one only a few miles from my house. I'll have to try them with a "test" cart.

Interestingly, the complete, onsite photoprocessing center has returned to my Walgreens, with brand new Fuji machines. They do a brisk film business - but the real secret is the SD reader bar where you select, preview, edit and order prints of individual files (or complete folders) in-store.

We're such a throw-back community.

Perhaps they'll keep a few centers going in my area; my first roll with the Leica (a Z2X compact, it's all I can afford of that make) purchased a few months ago (but had expired in 2001!) came back looking horrible. The camera did its job, but the expired film (and maybe the processing chemicals needed replenishment)
