Hello all

On fleabay there is a SP 1000 Motor Drive for sale. Never seen one before. Is it common? I have a ESII motor, and and SP Motor, but SP1000 is unknown to me.

Does anyone have any info about the Sp1000 Motor?

There never was and never will be a motor drive for an SP1000. That camera is not capable of supporting a motor drive. I have owned one since 1975 and know that camera extremely well and can guarantee 100% that there is no motor drive that will work with it. See my signature info.

L829 Pentax Spotmatic SP1000 Motor Drive Camera Outfit Drive Untested | eBay

The motor looks to be the wrong one, in regards to the color...

All of the SP motor were special made or by order only I think. The MX was the first Pentax that had Motordrive as an option to the normal body.

That is more than likely a different Spotmatic model fitted with the SP1000 top plate. Note how it has the self timer. Or it may be an SP1000 with a "Motor Drive" bottom plate. Or it may be both. Certain is, it's not original, and that kind of nullifies its collector value.

They just need to make up a good story to go with it, start out something like "Pentax created this one of a kind Motor Drive SP1000 for [famous photographer]"

According to the Asahi Optical Historical Club site, there was a Spotmatic Motor between 1965 - 1973 called the SP Motor Drive -> Screwmount

As stated above, it is not original. The SP1000 did not have a self-timer. In the ebay description they said: “Motor Untested - We Do Not Have Power Cord” so the complete item is probably just a nice paper weight. No collector value.

There is also a SP F Motordrive. It sound strange that they would make a SP 1000 motor when the SP 1000 was ment as a low cost model.

But there is a KM Motor as well as KX motor...

Is it a fake? or some exchange of top-plate due to some rerpairs?
