All three should be of equal brightness through the viewfinder, but it's really easy to switch them out and check for yourself. Be very careful not to touch the screens when swapping--hopefully the prior owner left you a set of directions too. It's really really simple, but it's also nice to check the directions quickly before starting.
I personally like the rule of thirds screens, though some of my buddies have taunted me for using them. Very handy to have lines for horizon or trees or buildings etc. I use a grid screen in my 67II's but prefer the "less patchworked" look of the rule of thirds screens for the PZ1p's.
