Pentax K1000 manufacturing year ?

Hello,
my name is Jonas, I'm 17, from Germany and I own a K1000.
I got the camera as a gift, when i was in Kansas as a foreign exchange student from 2011 to 2012 and brought it back to Germany.
It works perfectly fine, and makes great pictures with its (i guess) original SMC PENTAX-M 1:2 50mm objective.
Soon, I will buy some objectives for it, to make more different pictures!
But I'd really like to know, when and where it was manufactured.
I thought you could help me out ?!

Greetings from Germany !

Depends on the serial number, could be anywhere from 1975 to 1995. Use this page for reference:

Nice! Then you should be able to find a range of cameras similar to yours and get an estimate of the production date.

It appears to be some time before December 1976. That was the oldest acquisition date of any camera with a higher serial number. So its at least 37 years old.

Unfortunately, K1000 serial numbers weren't in order over the camera's whole run. See the PDF at
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/attachments/pentax-film-slr-discussion/11...-k1k_order.pdf.

Looks like Jonas's camera may be from 1982-83.

Jonas,
Welcome to the forum. In English an "objective" is a lens. And yes, Pentax has a very broad range of lens available, thanks to the backward compatability. You will find a lot of older cheap lenses to equip your camera. Enjoy.

Doring the 715XXXXrange most bodies were assembled in HK but some were still Jananese manufacture. If it has lost the sticker of the base there is no way to tell its origin externally.
