That's confirmed by me a couple weeks ago by accident. I shot a roll of a couple bands in a very dim music venue bar, Sunset Tavern, here in Seattle. I rated it at 1600 and shot it as such, but then when I took in for processing I completely forgot to ask them to push it. The roll turned out fine. Here are a couple...

Yesterday I met the guys of that startup at the Photokina in Cologne.

Currently the started a Kickstarter-Project to produce 120 films - this opportunity for me was the item with the most "must-have factor" at the whole fair.

If you support the project by 75$ + you will get 5 rolls of 120 film - I hope to get my rolls for my 6x7 in February

Still I'd like to support their kickstarter, but international shipping rates are just to high

Generally I think you are right - but you loose at least on stop .....which carries you away from good AL-capabilities.

My 1st 135-Film is stil in my SuperA so I cannot evaluate the quality yet.

If you are looking only for the tint at stock speed, i'd say maybe (i have no idea honestly).
But the Cinestill is (according to the creaters) far more than a simple film : it has a great lattitude even when under exposed, it can handle push / pull very well, etc ...

I believe it's based on the same technology as Portra. I'd love to try some but it's more expensive than Portra 800 here, and that's no cheap film.

I think, it's more likely that Portra is based on this Kodak movie film, and not the other way around

There are various “blue” tinted filters that adjust the colour temperature of the indoor lighting to match the “daylight” film you are using.

The gotcha is knowing what type of lighting is being used to match the filter to it. I went to an Auto Show in Vancouver a few years ago and used daylight colour slide film and a blue filter I had. Some of the lighting matched the colour temp of the filter and the shots were fine, others were blue tinged as the lighting was a different temperature.

The easiest thing to do is shoot b&w film or use a flash, where this issue does not exist.

Two from Las Vegas, this time at the Darius Rucker concert at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Shot with my Yashica 35 GSN and my first roll of Cinestill 800, metered at 1000, probably f/2 or f1.7, and developed without any push or pull.

I missed focus on this one a little, but it shows the color reproduction of this film well.

I pretty much missed every other shot on the roll, very disappointed in myself but c'est la vie. I also wasn't very happy with how the local camera shop's lab treated my film during the process and won't be using them again. Sad to say I have had better luck at the local grocery store's mini lab than these guys. The film I like more and more the more I look at it. I'd like to try it out with the northern lights should I get a cable release this winter and the 120 size is released.

Still waiting for my slides(a roll of Ektachome EPP 100 that I pushed two stops and had them cross process, also from the concert) to come back from The Darkroom on California, first time using them as well. It's been about a week since I sent them out, so they should have them Monday and have the scans uploaded by week's end to compare.

I guess CineStill has a hard time to explain, why they want $360k just to modify existing Kodak film while Ferrania asked for $110000 less to produce new film from scratch in four different formats.

I'd just use Portra 800 and give it a blue tint in post
