sf-10 battery

hi,
i got my first autofocus film camera from ebay for 19 dolar, shipping was 30 dolar

))
anyway, i was schocked after noticing that it uses 2cr5 lithium battery...
can i use any rechargable battery instead of this lithium battery, any idea???

I don't know if anyone makes a rechargeable battery in the 2CR5 size/voltage. If you can find one, I don't see why you couldn't use it.

Pentax made a different battery holder that used AA batteries. It replaces the battery holder cover. They show up on ebay once in a while.

They also made a remote battery pack. This replaced the cover, but the batteries were in an external pack that you could keep inside your coat, when shooting in very cold temperatures. This prolonged battery life. These also show up on ebay, but only rarely.

I have an SF-1, which is similar. I love it, but I don't use it much anymore, after getting my K10D. I have found that the 2CR5's last quite a long time, but I don't use the builtin flash very much.

Well, that's what I found out too.
Since I don't have the battery, the camera is just lying there.

I have the zx-10, which after googling a bit is a different camera. However its batteries last a really long time.

I got a non-rechargeable 2CR5 at Target for about $10. It does last a long time. I haven't kept track, but I've gotten quite a few rolls of film through the camera.

I bought an SFX-n and an SF7 off eBay recently and one came with both battery grips. Lucky me! I also have a Chinon (PK fit) manual body which can take a 2CR5 or 4 x AA batteries without changing anything! WHY couldn't Pentax have done that? It has a couple of little fold-down tags to allow a 2CR5 to fit - you just slide the battery in the door. (Their AF body is the CP9-AF) You can buy rechargeable 2CR5s from Hong Kong /China. They are listing at £21.72 on eBay at the moment. I used my Chinon CE4 in preference to my Pentax KX for many years - it has an add-on power winder and better metering. I used it with my SMC 50mm f1.4 lens though! I also use that on my K5 body.
