Started with minolta, but then when they got sold to Sony I looked around for in body stabilization (which Minolta had) and Pentax was the only game in town. K-10 Was my first dslr!!!

But this is in the film slr forum? So technically I started 25 years ago on a Canon AE-1 in high school

Started with a Pentax K1000, and over the years owned Canon AE-1 Program, Minolta SRT-101, Minolta x-370n, Minolta SR-1, Olympus OM-2s Program, Praktica TL1000, Nikon F2s, Nikomat FT2, Rollei 35, Minolta A, Kodak Signet 35, Yashica Electro 35, Petri 7s, and numerous other rangefinder 35s... The last 35mm SLR I had was the Nikons. I sold those & came back to Pentax when I switched to digital.

Starting with Minolta X-300 35mm SLR so naturally went with a Konica Minolta 5D as my first proper camera (after some compacts including a Kyocera S3R) then starting with Sigma (DP1X then later DP3M) and then on to Pentax with a K-7, went back to Sigma with the SD15 and now back with the K-01.
I still have the Sigma DP Compacts.

Started with Olympus OM, then got a deal I couldn't refuse on a new LX (dealer employee discount); sold the OM stuff and never looked back.

I am not on Pentax for the better ISO and DR, and the better build quality than Nikon IMO.
I'm not sure how ISO and dynamic range are attributes of a film body, regardless of make. They are however attributes of film.

Me and my brother was going to buy a Sony (my father had two Minolta AF lenses) due to them fitting us the best in the hand, the pricing and the SLT looking interesting. However, I couldn't use the evf in the camera (a5x something) as I was sensitive to it and saw rainbows all over the place. Instead we went for an ad for a mysterious thing called Pentax K-7 and we both still shoot Pentax.

Yashica 35mm (1976) --> Canon 35mm (1979) --> Pentax 35mm (1990) --> Pentax APS-C (2009) -->
Yashica 35mm (2014) --> Canon 35mm (2014) --> Pentax 35mm (2014) --> Pentax Full Fr. (????)

See what I did there. I didn't till just now.

What comes around goes around.

If we start with film I have to go back to the Kodak Disc.

Whatever Happened To ... Kodak disc cameras?

First 35mm was a Vivitar P&S. My first SLR was a Pentax K1000.

In the digital age I had an Epson PhotoPC, a Polaroid, and 2 Panasonic super zooms before geting my first DSLR, a Pentax K-x.

They aren't. I started on Canon film bodies. Then moved to Canon digital, and have come to Pentax digital for better ISO and DR over Canon film.

My first ever camera (still own it): http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fisher-Price_Perfect_Shot™_camera_(448482439).jpg

"serious" cameras: Canon Rebel GII--> Canon Rebel XSi--> Canon 50D--> Pentax K5

I started with the venerable Minolta SRT-102 back in 1977 then switched to Pentax MX a year later. No regrets.

My first two 'serious' cameras were an Olympus Pen FT and then an Olympus OM2s. That accounts for approximately 30 years.
When I started to be tempted by digital, I did a quick legacy compatibility survey and decided on Pentax. (Mind you, in my Olympus days, I thought Pentax was OK but like an 'amateur' camera. LOL)
So I bought my first autofocus SLR - Pentax PZ-10, in 1999 I think it was. The kit lens was horrible. So I did more research and bought the 16-45 in anticipation of digital.

So that's where I became a Pentaxian. Many cameras and lenses later I find I have several vintage system cameras (Leica screw, Pentax screw, K, Nikon, OM, Minolta MD are the main ones), and I have a Nikon D600.

I had more fun as a Pentaxian than a Nikonian, so I think I'll stay.
