MZ-s hotshoe maximum voltage

I've wondering about the hotshoe on the MZ-s vs other older cameras.

I'm thinking that the hotshoe is an electronically controlled one such as those in the modern dSLRs? Therefore using a flashgun with a voltage more than say 24v would be dangerous to use with this camera?

My reason for pondering this question is that I have some film-era flashguns, specifically a brace of Vivitar 283s that put 600> volts across the center pin and I would hate to kill my MZ-s using these. I usually do Strobist style flash photography but occasionally use on-camera flash.

Any thoughts?

You are correct. The MZ-S doesn't like high voltage at the hotshoe any more than dSLRs.

Try this link. Pentax is pretty rugged compared with some marques, but why push your luck: Photo Strobe Trigger Voltages
