Well, I did it....

I just bought an LX of ebay. Fingers crossed, hope it arrives working, as described and in one piece.

Knocking on wood right now.

No, its not the gold one. That one is still for sale!

Now to decide what to sell to cover this new purchase.

Congratulations!
Hope it didn't go for too much. They can get rather expensive sometimes.

You're (probably) going to love the camera. I sure thougt it was a pleasure to shoot with when i first got my hand on one. Have much fun with it and post some photos.

I loved mine for just over two years, until my big (gear) selloff. Getting a good CLA was an issue - it was right at the end of Pentax factory service.

FWIW, If it ISN'T perfect, Eric is doing CLA's on LX's (and 6x7's) now.

Monochrome,

Thanks for the advice with regard to the CLA. I've got his (Eric's) site now bookmarked.

Still excited...

I'll cross my fingers for you as well. Like Monochrome, I sold my last of 2 bodies 3 years ago. Pentax Canada no longer has parts or service for them and I had a mirror bucket issue that couldn't be repaired. I would think Eric can do just about anything needed.

Good luck with the camera!! It's as good as Pentax has ever made IMO.

I bought my Pentax LX body at a very good price from KEH (IIRC under $300, working, with the FA-1 finder)
but anticipating the added cost of overhaul. Eric did the work and now it should work well for many years.

She Arrived Today!

My new to me LX arrived today! In one piece!

All the functions seam to work. I'll have to runn a role through to be sure. The seams and rubber bits look like they could use a replacement. I expect I'll be sending her to Eric for a CLA in the near future.

But first I want to get out and shoot some film!

Excuse my "lighting" studio stuff is not really my thing.

I would like to say I got it at a bargin price from some guy at a rummage sale, but, well that would be a good story, but not true.

Truthfully, It was more then I should have spent, or wanted to spend. But I justified it because the camera has every feature I wanted in an SLR. I plan to keep it for a long time. Or until film is illegal! The only other camera Pentax made that has the same feature list is the K2. I went for the LX over the K2 because of the light meter.

The funding for this expenditure has come from the liquidation of other Pentax gear. So without posting a dollar figure of what I spent...

So far sold:

K100D (body only)
SMC 50 1.4

I expect to need to sell a couple of K1000's and a lens or two to bring me back to even.
