P30n vs. P3n: Are they identical?

A couple of weeks ago I bought a P30n, mainly for the FA 28-105 f/4-5.6 that was on it. After I got it I found that the body is in good working condition except that the flash shoe has been broken off, leaving the little hot contact plate hanging out of the hole in the top by its wires. I was thinking of trying to find a parts camera to scavenge for a replacement top plate with hot shoe, but it seems there aren't many P30ns out there, whether working or not. Are the P3n and the P30n truly identical except in stenciling? Is there any reason I couldn't replace the top plate of my P30n with the top plate of a P3n?

They are supposed to be the same. The difference was the region where the camera was originally sold.

Thanks, Steve. That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure before I throw any more money at the P30.
