PZ-1p battery life

What's a typical battery life of PZ-1p. I just ordered a Lithium 2CR5 battery and was wondering about how many rolls will it last and the shelf life.

Battery life is very short for the Z-1p. If I remember correctly, I got only about 10 to 20 rolls of film out of every 2CR5. After that I would transfer the battery to my SFXn and continue using it for about a dozen rolls more.

Battery life is fairly short with Z1p - not used, even tiny LCD screen will drain it after some months. To prolong it - I simple store battery up side down - this way it doesn't get drained over time. When I go out shoot with it I simple flip the battery again and voila. Another thing is that I am using custom made battery holder for Li-ion rechargeables from UltraFire. The trick is to get the really genuine - I have 3 sets , from which one I bought on Amazon for a premium price, and two other sets I bought from eBay sellers (two of them ) from which one was UK one China based. Both cheap sets that supposed to be genuine are fake and they don't keep the charge nowhere good as the genuine one.

I used to get about 15 rolls of 36 exposures out of my Z-1 (with some use of the PowerZoom functionality). The shelf life of the battery was given as 10-15 years (it being a Lithium) at the time.

Note: This was when the camera was new and the 2CR5 batteries cost the equivalent of $25 then in the UK.

I tend to get between 15 and 20 rolls of mixed 24/36 exposure film. The PZ1p has many fine features but battery life probably isn't one of them.

Actually though, as I look back, I don't think any of the major brands were experiencing great battery life at that point in time either.

To put this into perspective, in the '90s a 2CR5 battery cost about $20-25 (UK prices without inflation, converted into USD). Most batteries were proper brands (Duracell, Panasonic, EverReady etc.) and the camera manufactures will have tested dozens of batteries and used the best performing ones for their tests (with a sprinkle of artistic license). Real world shooting is often different to the testing (and claims). The benefit at the time was high power in a small package (to power the AF, flash & camera processors) and very good cold temperature performance.

Now the batteries are much cheaper ($8-10), often 'no-brands' from online box shifters. How they stack up to the 'originals' is anyone's guess, but at the current prices they're much more affordable. In my case I bought an AA battery grip for my SFXn, much cheaper overall (at the time).
