A Pentax SLR question

Week or so ago, browsing on EBAY for bits and Pieces, I came across two Spotmatic Bodies only, being sold as Not working; for parts etc.

The descriptions of each Body were easily understood, with one exception.

The second Body was, under the heading of Functionality, described as :
BODY(B)
Functional:Malt degradation.

Sent a question to the seller, got no response.

Can anyone please explain what "Malt degradation" is ?, in the context of a Camera??.

Many thanks

Fiddler.

I'm guessing it was a Japanese seller?
My guess would be that it refers to either rust or paint loss.

Since it is affecting the function, I imagine they might be talking about the foam bumpers/seals or perhaps the mirror silvering.

So... I believe the Japanese word for "malt" can also refer to "mold", so there is likely fungus.

I'm glad I'm not the only one a little confused by this.
If it were Mold in the Body(no Lens), in a degraded state, would that mean the Mold is improving lol !

If only the seller had responded with an answer. It really makes no difference now, but I am as curious as hell to know what he was referring to.

Seals would be a good candidate for degradation , or are they "Flippers" !!.

Thanks for your input though. Appreciate it.

I've never used my cameras for pictures of beer.

Every time I drive near Haskell and Roscoe in Los Angeles, by the largest brewery in the world, the gentle fragrance wafting forth, brings the term malt degradation to mind.

Update

Well, the Gentleman from Japan has responded.

I quote : "Molt is light seal"

So all the fuss about "Malt" was for nothing.

He meant to say "Molt".

I still would have had no clue !!, Molt or not.

Cheers all

Fiddler.
