and there is an av setting for when you just want to shoot without thinking.

When you do go this route, i'don't want to hear any horror stories about what happened to it :-)

Have a few bodies but the k2 is the last one I will let go... K1000 ergonomics but lots of extras on it. Battery driven however.

You must have tough cars and tough roads in your part of the world.

Where I live, dropping a K1000 like that would leave a foot-deep crater in the road. And there would be a pile-up of cars with wheels missing and axles ripped off from trying to run over the camera. Meanwhile the K1000 would need a quick wipe with a clean cloth.

A KM would be a good replacement, like a K1000 but with a self-timer and depth-of-field preview.

Where it went flying was a lot of heavy oil field traffic going home....believe me...it was hit more than once by far.
I did just pick up a fun little Fujica AZ-1 for $9.99 on Fleabay.....but still looking for something Pentax wise......that K2 just keeps calling me....lol.

The only worse crime would have been cutting the aperture lever off the 24 to use it on a Canon FF...

Canon and Nikon are filthy words to me...lol. I don't think there was much useable at all.....I almost wish I had taken pics of the corpse. It was in multiple pieces and took me a while to realize I was looking at camera pieces on the road.

Back decades ago I had my camera run over by a Chevy Suburban when I came home drunk from a club one night. I didn't find it until the next morning after it was run over a second time by the truck backing out of the driveway and a subsequent snowstorm. When I discovered it it had been mushed into the stone and mud driveway flush with the lens.

The camera laughed at it and served me right on up until I shelved it a few years later.

K2, KX, and MX.

The ISO setting ring on the K2 can be a bit difficult to turn. Other than that, its my favorite.

Thanks....Im fine. Its done and gone and never will I ever do that again.......... to a Pentax....lol.
I just don't want another K1000 again. Two SLR mishaps in 30+ years and they were both K1000's. Time to move up to a different model like the K2 !

Oh you lucky dog. I've been looking for a cheap 24 for ages. See, you lose some and you win some.

Mine was a wedding anniversary gift. Ooops. Between that, and dropping my cell phone in the toilet earlier this year, I can no longer give her a hard time for losing those 3 cell phones
