These M40s seem to have haze issues more often than some others in my experience

This is from a sampling of how many?

Nevere heard of it and my only one is perfect - bought used, and there are no reports of this issue in the lens database. Depending on your sample size, perhaps an isolated incident?

Just my experience seeing quite a few on ebay. Another that I have seen more than others to have haze is 2.8/50 macro

I would highly recommend not buying used equipment with issues you can't live with!

I don't think anyone does purposefully.

I like my 40/2.8 very much on film cameras. I find it too fiddly on digital. No problems at all with mine. I don't use it that much, but that is because I have too many lenses, not because of any fault with the lens. K.

Here is some samples of Pentax-M 2.8/40mm I just took on FF. Middle one is at minimum focal distance

I wanted to like my M40 very much... I was using it mostly on Digital and I found it an uncomfortable focal length to use honestly. It was both not wide enough and not far enough :P

I sold my copy for what I paid for it and carried on. So in that sense they are great :P

I'm meeting a guy tonight that I know who is selling one, so hopefully I will have a mint M40/2.8 in my possession soon!

Can't wait to see what I looks like on a K2.

Phil.
