Welcome to CBA.

I'm recently cursed with an LX.

Check the mirror foam.

First, look for a community darkroom in your area. I see this site is showing more as time goes on

The Pentax MX is an excellent camera for learning film photography.

I second the suggestion for using a community darkroom if practical.
Experiences there will help clarify what you might want in a home darkroom.

There's nothing like taking the photographic process from start to finish.
For me making wet prints is probably the most rewarding part of photography.

Great camera, as said though with old Pentaxes the foam bits start to turn to goo. I just replaced a couple of mirror brake bits - the strip that catches the edge of the mirror as it flips up. Easy enough with care and a sheet of self-adhesive 2mm foam from a hobby shop.

Camera Buying Addiction, a close, but not quite as expensive disease, as LBA (Lens Buying Addiction). Unfortunately, it is extremely rare to have one of the two diseases without the other.

@wombat: thanks for the link there are two private darkrooms within an hours drive of my home!

I learned photography on an slr and practically lived in my high schools darkroom.

So exited to be getting back into film.

I will definelty check out all the foam- thanks for the heads up.

Congrats on the acquisition! To me, the MX's gloriously large and bright and full info viewfinder was a revelation.
Hope yours comes in fully functional and ready to shoot!

I've bought two MX's in the last 5 years; one I gave to my nephew for his 21st birthday, the other I traded to my daughter for her SP1000. I think the young need to use the best cameras.

Being young at heart, I will at some point buy a third MX.

Congratulations, hope to see/hear of your experiences!
