Dented Prism Housing on MX - CLA?

I have a MX in fairly worn condition. The meter and shutter seems to work but I haven't run a roll of film through the body to verify. I'd like to send this body to Eric H for a CLA. The prism housing is dented. Does this make the body ineligible? Or, are the dents small enough that they don't affect image alignment? I'd like to get the Forum's opinion before I spend money on S&H and waste Eric's time to review and ship the body back to me.

What price range should I expect a CLA for a MX to cost?

I've had the top off an MX and think that it should be no problem.

The brass sheet used for the MX top cover is THIN, and gets dented easily, when I went with mine to my local tech to clean the screen he had to disassemble the cover and easily with an hammer removed the dent, IMO there's nothing to worry about.

You also may be able to find a new/used top section, I've seen them on eBay for other Pentax models as well as bottom plates.

It should be fine. I might actually have a couple non-working MX bodies lying around that could serve as donors for the plate if you need one...

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I'm glad to read that the dented metal shouldn't have any affect on the optical performance of the camera.

You may ask Eric if he has another one he can replace yours with while he's got it for a CLA.

In 1982, my ME Super did a near to 1 meter crash to concrete (shoulder strap somehow got in the way of the car door when leaving the car).

The dent on the prism house looked quite impressive. Electronic was dead, and I had agreed for a lot of indoor party events for the weekends of the next 2 months. And at that time it was my only Pentax body.

Fortunately, the 125x of the ME Super is fully mechanical, and with my Metz (auto thyristor) flashes I could just go on shooting these events.
Three months later, I gave it to my local shop, and they sent it to Pentax. Obviously no problem with the prism, they charged me only for replacing an electronic board (altogether DM 70, as I recall). And I went on using this body for many more years.

I sent the MX to Eric about two weeks ago and I paid him for a CLA shortly after. He said he should be able to work with that body. I told him I'm more concerned about functionality than cosmetics so we'll see what he does. If past experience is anything to go by then I'm sure he'll do a fantastic job!
