Pentax K-1000 lot price determination

Hello all,

Figured I'd ask it here:
I'm probably willingly to sell of my K1000 (since I mostly go with 6x6 film), however I don't know how much i'd ask for this:

Pentax K1000 SLR camera with 5 lenses:

Wide angle: SMC Pentax 1:3.5/35
telelens: smc pentax-m 1:3.5 135mm
standardlens: smc pentax-m 1:2.0 50mm
macrolens: smc pentax-a 1:2.8 50mm
Petri 50 mm 1:1.4 lens

What is a reasonable price to sell this for? All in very good working condition.

Thanks for your time.

going by some people on my local craigslist, the K-1000 alone should be at least $250. They can't seem to grasp that there are a massive number of those cameras around and that demand for them is much lower than supply.

Actual sale price for a K1000 + 50/2 is probably $25-30. The other lenses are worth considerably more. I'd suggest you search eBay and check the box that limits the search to actually sold items - that gives you a good idea of what people actually have paid for the items.

except those never show what price it actually sold for if the seller accepted a lower offer via PM

Some do. According to the rules of the forum, they aren't supposed to delete what it was sold for.

But another good place to check prices is https://www.keh.com/

I would recommend selling the lenses individually, especially if you plan to make a listing on the Marketplace.

135mm: $25-100, depending on condition
35mm: $75-150
50mm macro: $100-200
K1000+ 50mm x2: $50-75 (splitting this up will probably yield more)

But otherwise around 300 euros sounds fair. People might not bite on the lot unless it's closer to bargain territory- good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the info,

Not going to sell it individually, as it seems that aslong it's not gone I still have the possibility of using it.

Welcome to the forum. Check eBay Sold listings for market prices.

Not following. If someone lists a lens at $500 and I PM and offer $450, the seller isn't updating the price on the post, he's just marking it sold. It's not a matter of deleting what price he listed it at (though I've seen that done as well), but of not updating with the actual sold price.

KEH is a good place to check retail prices if you're looking to buy. They won't tell you what you can sell it for to a private party; and they won't buy a lens at the price they sell it for.

My main camera is a k1000 and I'm constantly on the watch/hunt for clean, early examples and good lenses. I've shopped and bought almost all the items on your list within the last year. I mainly do my shopping on eBay and my expectation of price based on that would be;
K1000 body -good condition- $25 -great condition- $50 (great would mean clean and with a semi-recent CLA)
35/3.5 -good condition- $35
135/3.5 -good condition- $30
50/2.0 -good condition- $15

People often ask more than this for their gear, but don't often get it.
Figure there will be an extra $10-15 tagged onto each sale for shipping cost.
You will make more by selling items individually than as a group.
If you have ephemera (covers, cases, boxes, filters) when added appropriately, it will increase the price. (For example a lens with matching filter and the box it came with or camera with manual)
What Chris mentioned above about looking up sold eBay items that match what you're selling is a great tool for both setting your level of expectation and for seeing what presentation yields the best result.
Sometimes, a quick, bundled sale, even if it yields less cash, is worth the trade off in headache of dealing with multiple auctions. I sell in person and local first. Auction websites are way more hassle and full of scammers than I care for. They are a last resort for me.
So, that's my 2¢. Good luck selling your gear!

Pricing depends on where you are on the planet. Here in Australia, K1000 sell for $200-300 regularly (camera and 50/2 lens). Add extras and they fly off the floor. Supply (not much here in Aust) + demand (K1000 being recommended by every photography school as the #1 camera to have for class) = higher than 'average' prices.

Pricing may also depend on whether or not the K1000 has a self timer . .

so if I ship you a box of cheap K-1000 bodies can we split the profits?
