I just won a Pentax K1000 with a Vivitar 28-90mm f2.8-3.5 Macro zoom lens. For 45.00$
Was it a good deal or not? They are both in great condition.

Don't listen to those two, they're out to bilk you. My man, you were completely robbed, swindled, and bamboozled. That's the worst deal I've heard of in a long time. But hey, just because I'm a good guy and I like to help people out, I'll give you $45 for what you have.

Sounds like a great deal to me. A K1000 is averaging $56 on ebay and that's probably with a 50mm f2 lens. Plus whoever made Vivitar's lenses back in those days usually made some pretty good glass. I would say load up and go over to do some shooting at Shell Point. But I heard that after the last hurricane, they "paved Paradise and put up a parking lot" plus more danged condos.

On Cameraquest, it states, "One legendary German manufacturer bought the 28-90 Series 1 Vivitar zooms and relabeled it as their own." Also it gives a way to tell who made the lens for Vivitar by serial number.

Does it say "Asahi Pentax" on the viewfinder, or just "Pentax"?

It looks like it says Pentax on the camera and it's a Vivitar S1 lens. I won't get it till some time this week.
