Heh. I just can't start on Voigtlander (and Nikon - I did look around a bit). Really. Can't.

My Bessa hasn't even arrived and I've had visions of an S2 in my brain..... Someone needs to take my computer from me and lock it away for several months.

You know it's really bad when you start getting really excited about a Diana F+

I keep pondering this question. I've bought several new film cameras in the last few years, so I suspect I'd be 'in the market' for one if they did a new one. But, what's already out there is so good and so cheap, they would really have to have a killer feature set to get my money.
If I was to spring for something, there are a couple oddball designs I'd be likely to spend money on. If someone made a hasselblad 500 style slr, with waist level viewfinder and all, that shot 35mm and took Pentax lenses, I'd be a sucker for that.
If they did a body that could do either digital or film... That would pique my interest.
Of course, they could go full retro and build a rangefinder.

I actually nearly bought one of those about 4 or 5 years ago or a bit more... Not sure why I never did. I think i got sucked into megapixel racing again.

I got one of the blackbird fly tlr 35mm and one of the diy tlr kits. I've been greatly tempted by the holga wide angle 120mm and some of the zero image pinhole cameras as well. Too many cool cameras out there...

What's your prediction for the release-date of the first 100MP APS-C DSLR, then?

BTW, what is the MP equivalent (as near as one can be had) for fine-grain professional 35mm colour film? (As opposed, say, to Kodak Gold or Fuji 400 for the masses.)

I dunno, but I've seen inkjet prints from 18-MP that I would have sworn 20-30 years ago were enlargements from 4x5 negs (if they're behind glass, it can get difficult to tell inkjet from darkroom enlargements).

Not colour but b&w, but still gives you an idea what 35mm film still can achieve. From the Adox web site:

ADOX CMS 20 135/36 35mm 36 Exposure:

No film is sharper, no film has finer grain or higher resolution (up to 800 L / mm at highest contrast. When developed in CMS 20 developer, it has an ASA rating of 20. In practical pictorial usage with normal image contrast it can be used at up to 25 ASA.

In a standard developer (i.e. HC 110) it has approximately ASA 6 for pictorial usage. Nearly grain-free enlargements can be made up to an image size of 2.5 meter diagonal. This is roughly equivalent to a 500 megapixel resolution. For comparison: a 12 Megapixel digital camera has only 2,4% as much resolution as this film.

Probably not. I like some old film cameras but if I want something new I go for digital.
I don't think there are any new features that could be added to a film camera that would entice me. When great workhorse cameras can be had for next to nothing I would just get a K 1000 or ME Super for a few dollars over anything new.

At least until the supply of spare parts runs out. I have two Spotmatics, and one will be my shooter while the other is the spare (though they are both currently "live" with SR41 or equivalent modern batteries). If both of them last and my kids have an interest in photography, they will become part of their inheritance - one each. I will leave the fight over who gets the Asahi and who gets the Honeywell to them.
