This link may answer the mystery of the LX Special edition. Guess it may have been the origination of "bling". <http://www.net-chuko.com/buy/detail.do?ac=2144174141195&_ga=1.239129931.917631802.1434630519#>.

Yep and still prone to the sticky mirror issue if it was ever used!

Or even if not used. But then at least you'd have a *gold* broken camera to show off.

Hey, didn't Thurston Howell III have one of these?

There are three more special editions: Two LX Titanium (silver and black) and the LX2000 (chrome)

All that glitters is gold! And of course the Pentax LX is at the top of the heap . . .

Although I would prefer the Titanium or LX2000 version.

Note that the Gold Pentax LX for the US had lizard skin, as crocodile skin was then illegal. That's why the Pop Photo cover looks different from the Japanese picture.

I'd rather have the Titanium version.

I remember that issue of Modern Photography. I thought that they were ugly back then and still do. About 10 years ago that was a guy in Italy who would gold plate ANY camera. He had done a 1959 Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super and was selling it for $350 on ebay.

The gold LX kit just sold on eBay for $3000.

For $1000 you cane get these 2 Gold Pentaxes:

VERY RARE LIMITED ASHAI PENTAX 14K GOLD PLATED S2 & S2 SUPER 35mm SLR CAMERAS

As a LX junkie,( I have three,) I'd much prefer the titanium LX over the gold. Tastefully understated, appealing to the cognoscenti, not the vulgar blingsters. ANY LX, is perhaps the most desireable manual focus SLR of any maker.
