Pentax K1000 anniversary - need all Pentaxian help an can get

Hey,
I got a K1000 35th Anniversary from eBay. One of the 300 ever produced.
But I have a problem:
The camera was built in 1994, so K1000 was assemlbed in China these time. But all the other K1000 anniversary ive seen before where japan built cameras.
The Camera top cover is built of plastic, not chromed metal.

DID SOMEONE KNOW IF THIS COULD BE A K1000 ANNIVERSARY IF ASSEMBLED IN CHINA?
DID THEY PRODUCE THE CAMERA IN JAPAN, HONG KONG AND CHINA OR ONLY IN CHINA FROM 1990-1997???

NEED Your Pentaxian-Pro-Wisdom-Help Please.

Thanks for all your answers.

Milka

I wish I could help you, but my only thought is that it seems like it would be an oddball thing for somebody to make a fake of. I guess you never know though.

I know very little about any of the strange "collectible" Pentax body versions and personally think they're silly.
I DO know that K1000s were made in Japan until around 1980, then Hong Kong for about 10 years, then finally China until production stopped.
So it would make sense to me that a "35th Anniversary" edition would be made in China.... and Chinese versions did have plastic top plates.
I've never heard of Pentax making any K1000s in Japan again after production moved away... I could be wrong.

Edit: a quick search shows that 35th Anniversary badge/sticker to be just that - a badge or sticker... It could easily be stuck on any model of K1000.

Howdy,

I have a 35th Anniversary K1000, too. The Camera's bottom cover has an "Assembled in China" sticker attached.
The Camera's top cover is like the other late model K1000s: no KX bump, no serial number, no "Asahi Opt. Co." engraving and no "ASAHI" on the pentaprism.
The manual, Certificate of Authenticity and other paperwork for it is written in Italian. Both of the Certifcatos Di Garanzia, one for the camera the other for the 50/2.0 lens, are stamped MAR.1995.
The red velvet Display Box has no markings at all.

I hope this helps with your questions.

edit 12/3/2015:
Here are the ad photos of my Camera when it was put up for sale.

Where? When? How do you know? I saw one on eBay and 2 on other sites which described the pentax special editions. Both had metal top.
  2. no KX bump, no serial number, no "Asahi Opt. Co." engraving and no "ASAHI" on the pentaprism there is no "Asahi" on the camera, but I already have a serial number, the number is still noticed in the guarantee card
Thanks for answers, please let me know more about the camera. Discussion is still open

Here is some info on the camera, note the 35th anniversary is not related to the production run of the K1000:

Thanks

Thanks for the pic phil but there you can only see the front.
The mean comparisons are on the top and bottom.

The film rewinder on mine (and the later chinese assembled ones) is built of plastic and the rewinder I saw on others is chrome built.
So my Question is: is this really okay, or is it "repaired" with an other rewinder.

As the K1000 35th anniversary was built in 1994 it would be the Chinese plastic version which was produced from 1990-1997:

At the local auto parts store I see for $1.99 there's a badge you can stick on your car that says "Special Edition"...
