That is very cool! I am not sure that even Jussi (Nesster) has this one.

I remember that...my first camera was a KM.
Boy was I mad at myself when I left it at the top of Yosemite Falls.

I replaced it with a K1000. By then the KM was out of production.

Thanks for posting! What a great brochure - straightforward, yet compelling, and directed to 'you,' the photographer. Plenty of Pentax DNA here.

While numerous technological advancements are explained, an emphasis is also placed on superior ergonomics:
Page 1: "Even the famous Pentax 'feel' has been improved."
Page 3: describes the many ergonomic features.

Interesting to see the differences among the four K-models. I'd love to see something like this published by Ricoh-Pentax upon the release of the upcoming full-frame camera.

I always use DOF preview so of course I prefer the KM to its cheapened successor.
Fortunately used KM bodies usually sell for less than the more well-known K1000.

Thanks for sharing that brochure. It sheds some light on my K1000 anomaly

Thanks for scanning and posting this. I`ve never seen this one before and it is unique with the mention of prototypes. I always thought it was a shame that within a few months of this publication Pentax was marketing M series and planning to discontinue the K`s. We had to wait till 1980 for a Pentax automatic model(LX) to improve on the discontinued K2 while the K1000 was kept over the better equipped KM. Some of the finest cameras and lenses Pentax ever made have always been rather rare because they only ran about two years.

Very nice indeed, that is like a selection guide, featuring both technical information as well as a presentation of product benefits. It would be hard to do now for cameras, the numbers of digital camera models being rather limited.

Olympus killed the K-series.

Interesting, the K2 seems to have some sort of collar ring around mount. I wonder what it was used for?

Maybe Ricoh should add such a collar ring or at least another eDial on the mount somewhere for those who can't get the hang of adjusting the aperture from the right-hand eDials.

The fact that Asahi/Pentax did not seem incorporate this feature in any other body probably says a lot.

It is to set the ASA (ISO).

Those who think Top Plate Button / e-Dial ISO manipulation is finicky ought to run a roll through a K2.
