What type of metal does the ME Super use?

I'm curious as to what the body and components are. Are they steel, aluminum, magnesium, or something else?

thanks,
Davide

Mostly brass and steel. The top plate is plated (or painted, for the black version) brass. Hence the term 'brassing' when the corners get worn. The mount plate is also plated brass. I think the back door is steel. The workings are a mixture of steel, brass, plastic...

Maybe they used different materials in the production life time.
The ME Super here, taken apart for parts:
top cover is plastic
Bottom plate is aluminium
body is die cast aluminium ( or similar alloy)

Front leatherette covers are plastic
rear door is steel
K mount is aluminium
A lot of the small mech parts are pressed steel.
The hotshoe claws are aluminium, and the hotshoe plate looks like stainless steel.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Sounds like it's brass or aluminum.

Just file a bit off, if it's yellow it's brass, and if white aluminum

Thanks. My ME Super already has enough scratches that I didnt need to add any. The scratch fissures are silvery, so I guess it is aluminum. I used to keep the old 50mm 1.4 Takumark and 35mm f2 screw mount on it via screw mount adapter. I wonder if I was inadvertently running the same experiment the Curies did when they induced radiation in aluminum.

From what I understand, M-series body top and bottom covers would be either chromed brass or plastic. The MX is brass and it appears that the ME Super may be either. I found online photos with obvious yellow brassing and others without.
