Is it worth replacing the foam under the top cover? Or just cover the area with some black electrical tape to insulate it against the metal cover? I think the foam in my MX is in poor shape under there but I've done nothing with it yet.
The foam will either go to dust or goo.

Either can cause damage it is best to read the link and remove old foam and either

Get a repair person to replace.

Or

DIY

Removing old foam is time intensive and repair person will charge

Some of the Pentax cameras seem to get damage to the prism coating from foam as well.

Jon Goodman sells quality seal kits for most SLRs. They used to be about $10 a few years ago. Jon_Goodman@yahoo.com

I can DIY it, I was just wondering if it was worth replacing. I guess it's there for a reason! I need to get in there to recalibrate the meter anyway. Thanks!

If you dig into the camera, you might find this resource helpful:

Pentax Manuals

For the ME Super, download both the ME and ME Super manuals.
