I could be mistaken - but - adaptall-2 was originally in the .com domain - then the site went down, but was picked up as a .org domain, and now is back to the .com domain.

Quite right. So interesting that it's back at the .com domain.

Huh. Good to know it's back up. BTW, Attila still owns the .org domain. I guess he just decided to switch it over -- for whatever reason. Maybe price? Some domains extensions are more expensive than others.

Wasn't it originally a project of a camera dealer before Atilla picked it up, or has my memory faded?

That I don't know. But the previous owner was obviously a major Tamron fan. I've been visiting adaptall-2.com -- or org -- for years before Attila bought the domain. But I'd never given much thought to who actually ran the site.

Wish you guys would not do this.

I just bought a 54B and K mount for 10.0GBP from junk shop for the mount but the lens looks interesting.

Wow, Noel, you got a super deal. How is the lens physically and optically? The 54B, aka the SP 300mm f/5.6, is a somewhat slow lens, but it is very sharp and contrasty. If you haven't done so yet, read up on what adaptall-2.com has to say about it. It's also somewhat uncommon and shows up on the used gear sites, like eBay, only occasionally. And when it does, it usually sells for more than you'd expect a 300/5.6 to sell for. There's one on US eBay right now for $128 w/Nikon mount. So, yeah, you got a great deal.

The lens is in good condition only a few mars to finish from residence in gbag, few specs of black paint dust in optics, the multi coated uv filter it came with (no cap) looks usable but I'll need a 58 mm snap in cap, the mechanicals seem perfect.
One of the little black KM mount followers (embellishers) is bent so I'll need to strip and bend back but I have a parts follower if it snaps, it still works but would snag in service and eventually snap, looking bad.

I think it was sold as a junk zoom! It is not obviously a prime. And small zooms are two a penny. It was in a basket with 'junk', kids toys etc.

But I'd a bought an adaptall mount for 10.0 GBP they are difficult to find here.

The lens is big enough to make all day carriage difficult. And I go close with the 120mm/2.8 M, so won't pack both. Won't be able to carry both, I typically have three bodies in bag etc.,... And I'd need the optional tripod clamp ring. Any one seen a Unicorn?

I still don't like these threads. But keep your nose in junk boxes.
