Adaptall-2.org

(I'm only posting this here because so many film shooters use adaptall.)

This afternoon I was looking for the specs of a few adaptall lenses and noticed that adaptall-2.org has gone offline. It seems like a sad day for those of us who like the old equipment. I've had a 17mm, 200mm and 35-80 on M42, K-mount, and Nikon, always film.
Although the lenses are still excellent users and will be for a while it feels slightly ominous to lose such a good resource.

I wonder if the owner's hosting subscription lapsed? Should contact them to find out!

Adam probably is right, the site was off line for more than a month in the past, but it was years ago.

Fortunately the internet archive has some snapshots of it: https://web.archive.org/web/20160313083307/http://adaptall-2.org/
Looks like it was still up as late as March 13, 2016.

Yes, it was active quite recently. I was looking at some of their pages in the last week of march.
It just seems like a very real loss to adaptall users, like losing this forum for m42 and K users or Mir for Nikon.....
A shame, really.

When it gets to the point where a "holding page" pops up, it is very strong evidence that the domain has passed into other hands.

RIP Adaptall-2.org

I hope someone takes the initiative to copy (with permission) and reproduce the information from there. Or even better: re-establish the site as it was.

This happened once before. It was originally adaptall-2.com. The current owner spent quite some time in negotiation to obtain the website, as I recall.

Attila, owner of mflenses.com is also the owner of the adaptall-2.org URL. When I saw that it was offline several days ago, I did a WHOIS lookup on it and found that the URL lapsed on the 17th, but that he renewed it on the 18th and that he is paid up until 2017. So Attila still owns adaptall-2.org. When I did this, I got a page from the hosting service -- one I'm not familiar with. But now it's showing GoDaddy as the hosting service. So obviously, Attila has changed hosts. I guess it's taking him some time to get it set up and configured at GoDaddy.

I've already posted an offer over at mflenses.com to take it over and list it with my hosting service if he doesn't wan to mess with it anymore. There has been some discussion over there regarding the site, but so far no comments from Attila on the subject. Which is a little odd.
