I think my Spotmatic F is faulty :(

Hi, I'm a newbie who recently bought a Spotmatic F for about 50 bucks.

Well, I tested it and I realised there was no response from the light metre, just always indicating Positive position.

So I opened the battery compartment and I noticed it is somewhat different from others' SP F.

THERE'S NO CONTACT I'M AFRAID.
So, cannot this one be resurrected? Have I bought a junk one..?

If it is just the contact I believe you can simply use some piece metal so that the battery touches it?

The film cameras can be repaired. They are not like DSLRs.

But my SP frequently does not have a battery.

I only got the SP cause I could not find a S1a (which latter does not have a meter).

That shouldn't be a big problem...besides the fact I don't know anybody in Korea that can solve that issue.

Do you have the battery the right way around? It uses a 625 size. Make sure it touches the contacts. Anyway, the light meter is not essential. Look up "Sunny 16" for exposure settings.

Piece of aluminium foil cut by scissors after cooking chicken?
But some people still use sunny side /16.
Or a Weston meter from 1950 with dome and filter for slide film?

Just use mobile phone app. They really are quite accurate. Or go with the period and get a Pentax Spotmeter V.

The reason why a person buys a F is that it has open wide metering, the camera looks in good conditions so IMO it's worth of trying to find a solution for that simple fault.
