I was looking over more of my Delta 3200 pictures. And it certainly does have a more compressed tonal scale in the low values compared lower box speed films. And that is a lot like digital too. That is, if you shoot ISO 3200 even on a high-end digital camera, you will get much lower DR and a more compressed tonal scale capturing fewer stops of light compared the camera's base ISO.
So I guess if you want really good tonal scale in the low values, shooting Delta 3200 is not your best choice.
