I'm sure this LX will be on Fleabay next week, advertised in mint condition.

Worries/No worries

Prolonged exposure to saturating moisture like that would likely damage even a so-called "weather sealed" camera.
Once inside those seals would then prevent escape, actually making things worse.
A complete disassembly might then be required. That's not real convenient when far afield.

When it rains I grab my Nikonos, which is waterproof...

Since the Pentax LX is the only one in my collection that was specifically identified as weather sealed, I wonder if it was the first such camera? I suppose that prior to the advent of electronic cameras, this feature may not have even been considered although electronic autoexposure SLR cameras have been around since 1965.

Having spent quite a bit of time in the dry Nevada region, this has not even come to mind. But now in the coast, I can appreciate this feature as I'm encountering foggy/drizzly conditions that are similar to the 100% humidity with no precipitation in Asia. Of course the salty air may be even more of an issue even with excellent corrosion resistance.

The first time I heard about the LX was in an article in a photo magazine back around 1990. It mentioned an LX that had been dropped into a creek, and worked fine afterwards.

I knew then that I had to have that camera.
