Winder cap plate

I have a Pentax MX which is a SLR film camera. It's quite a nice piece of work. However, when I attach the Pentax winder, it is necessary to remove (unscrew) a cap plate on the bottom of the camera to allow the winder's film advance spindle to engage the film spool so that the film will advance. Upon removal of the winder, the cap plate must be reinstalled (screwed back in) so that light cannot reach the interior of the camera and ruin the film.

I have lost the cap plate! Any advice on how to acquire another such item? Thanks for any help!

Best,

Bill

Welcome to the forum, maybe it's a listed spares item with Pentax, failing that... talk to recommend repairers who may well have such items.

This is a long reach but - have you checked to ensure you didn't screw the cover into its storage receiver on the winder itself?

I don't think that not having the cap will fog the film, but it will allow dust/dirt to get in. If you don't want to pay the $8 CarlH suggests, a piece of black electrical tape will keep dirt out.
