Is this the recessed button that enables rewind? If it is, it could have been wound on too far and is now jammed. My solution to that occasional problem on my film Pentaxes was to use my dark change bag (One especially designed to open the film back without exposing the film) and winding the film back into the canister by hand. Once the film is saved, you can open the bag and see what is stuck, and whether or not it is broken.

I'm sure a largish black garbage bag would do the trick, particularly if you hid in a closet with the lights off. The change bag has fitted sleeves for one's arms allowing the rescue in full sunlight, with care.

I find a good alternative to a changing back is a thick jacket. PUt the film in the jacket, fold the hood and bottom up, and use the sleeves. Of course, doing this in the dark will further minimize risk of accidental exposure.
