I posted this image early on in my PF life. It is my most favorite of all the photos I've ever captured.
During the summer of 1986, my Ex and I were on a 4 day-3 night "free" trip to Acapulco we "won" after falling for a timeshare sales pitch. On this day we were watching the cliff divers from the opposite side of the inlet. I attempted shots for every dive, perhaps 8 to 12, and this one stands out. The contrast of the cliff and the water and the diver (maybe 12 years old) in mid-air with both the cliffs and the sea as backdrop - that's what works for me.
I kept a 5x7 print of this on a cork board at my office. I would print this in large format, perhaps as an inspirational poster with "Confidence" or "Daring" emblazoned along the bottom. However, I lost the negative many many years ago. Below is a scan of the 5x7 print, with some scratches and the push pin hole created when I first hung it at the office.
I used my K1000, a J.C. Penny 80-200mm zoom lens, a 2x converter (not sure if I used it), and probably some variety of 100 speed Kodak film - as I preferred minimal grain.
