Photo of my K on Eric's bench

Eric sent me an email today letting me know that he has my K on his workbench right now. He sent this picture with the following message:

Working on your camera now. Trying to figure how to put it back together 😉

It scares me just taking the bottom cover off a K1000. I can't imagine the skill it must take to perform the level of service that he does to these old classics. Respect!

Wow again! I hope there are no bits left over after reassembly But seriously, you have to admire Eric's abilities. He can do this with any of the classic bodies.

Cool photo!

I recall an artist selling a poster of the exploded view of another classic Pentax.

Looks like fun? I really would love to have that poster on my wall, but think he was sold out.

Cheers
Baard-Einar.

Wow. I tried to take apart an old Soviet rangefinder last night. I can tell you there were way fewer parts than that and I still couldn't do it... At least I managed to put it back together without any spare parts left

Wow! One sneeze and oops! Where is that part? Obviously he doesn't let cats into his workshop

Unfortunately, he contacted me today to tell me that it has a bad part that must be replaced and he didn't have the part. I'm sending him another working K to pull a good part from because the one he has now is the one I want restored for personal reasons. The bad thing is, I'll be killing a fully functional K to get the other one up and running because I was able to get the one that works cheaper than I was able to find a parts camera.

Now if I could only remember who it was that contacted me about going in together to get a parts body so I could let them know that I probably have what they need now.

I dont know Eric's connections and probably it doesnt help because he is on the other side of pond (seen from my location) but in Germany there is this official Pentax repair guy: Reparatur PENTAX Kameras - KAMERAZEIT ist offizieller PENTAX Servicepartner

Maybe he has spares. I dont know if he speaks english, though. Web page is in german only...

Thanks for the tip. At this point I am just ready to get this camera fixed an move on to the next one. I don't want to hassle with trying to get this part so I'll just be parting out my other K.
