Pentax NEd

I was browsing through the auction listings over at the Goodwill auction site a couple of days ago, and came across the titled camera. Huh, I thought. I've never heard of a Pentax NEd before. So I took a look. Fortunately they were good enough to include a pic of the NEd. I should have captured the image for display here, but I didn't think of it at the time. No worries, though. I just happened to find a pic of the elusive NEd right here on the Pentax Forums!

Of course, the upside down forums logo gives it away. NEd indeed!

I've also seen it called a Pentax PEN. And a ME called a MUR. It took me a while to figure out how they came up with that one.

The NEd camera comes up every once in awhile on various sales sites and is sort of a legend here at Pentax Forums.

eBay occasionally lists Sportmatics, Ashi Pentaxes, and Super Pentax ME cameras. Their lens descriptions sometimes leave a lot to be desired as well (which, of course, can work to one's advantage .. .. ..)

I kinda figured as much, but this was the first time I'd come across it, so I couldn't resist.

Adam, OEd's a good one too. Me having a fair amount of linguistics training, though, whenever I see OED it means only one thing: Oxford English Dictionary -- the world's foremost authority on the English language. So an OEd Pentax would be a major bit of cognitive dissonance for me.

I have seen many a ME listed as MUE's If you look at one quickly the typeface Pentax uses does make the space actually look like a U. Goodwill is really bad sometimes they will have 10 pictures of a camera and not a one shows you a clear view of what it actually is.

Yep, the folks at the various Goodwill stores that list their stuff on the auction site usually know absolutely nothing about the photo gear they list. Seems like most of the lenses, for example, are listed by the description on the filters attached to them.
