Lost in translation I think

They work fine on the dSLR in A mode with body control. What I was trying to say is when you mount them on a LX, ME Super or MX then that control doesn't work - it is manual only using the aperture ring, metering for shutter speed, and obviously manually focussing.
I thought that was probably what you meant.

But significantly less pricey than Zeiss or Leica lens, I would think?

Thank you all for your replies. So much info.

Will start looking for the Pentax bodies you mentioned like the 40mm or 30mm, they sound really good options.

Besides it seems that the German named glass is always around and expensive.

Leitax converted lenses will meter stop down on the MX. The camera will know to stop down meter because it won't sense the lens aperture feeler. If using small lens openings use an eyecup if possible since light coming in around the eyepice will affect the meter reading.
