Now that I’ll have a MX in my life again after nearly 40 years, I’d like to find a MX Winder. I remember that I much preferred the ergonomics of my old ones when they were motorized. (I had MX Motors with the Nicad packs before, but that doesn’t sound practical.)

What should I be looking out for in a used MX Winder?

One that works

Apart from that the battery cover is a bit flimsy so be worth asking that question of any seller. Although you can tape it up if the lugs are broken.

I found an EX condition one at KEH. Possibly a little pricey, but at least is warranted to not be DOA.

The battery compartment closes with a plastic screw into plastic, which is often stripped.
After 30+ years there can be failures of other operational parts, many of which Eric can fix.
