Spotmatics are too beautiful.

I bought a silver Spotmatic because it had a Takumar 55/1,8 attached to it. I did want to sell the Spotmatic. Well, I did not. I hope my black Spotmatic doesn't mind.

The 55 1.8 is one of my fav lenses too, fantastic rendering around f4.

Thanks for the warning, but I guess it's too late anyhow. Maybe I'll grab my ME Super today and finish the film in it. Than I can try my MX again.

The second best thing about the Takumar, next to the rendering, is the superduper smooth focus. Manual focus is so easy with it!

That's an exceptionally clean camera body for its age. My Spotmatic shows its years of use.

Very sweet. I have an early black Honeywell version, CLA'd by Eric last fall. I had it up for sale, realized the error of my ways and pulled the sale last week. What in the world was I thinking?

I got lucky and inherited one in cosmetically mint condition from a friend who passed last summer. I sent it to Eric so now it is in perfect condition inside and out. It's a masterpiece!

I have both an SV and an H1a (same as S1a), plus two Spotmatics. While I agree that the SV and H1a are good looking cameras, the Spotmatics are my favorite. To my eye, the lines are much cleaner, especially the contoured lens mount with hidden attachment screws.

The Spotmatic falls into my hands more comfortably than any camera I've ever held.

I may be biased, as one of the Spotmatics was the first high-quality camera I ever owned. I washed dishes and bussed tables all summer to save enough to buy it new, with the 55/1.8 lens, in 1967.

Yup. Many would agree with you. And probably the OP. No worries.

The Spotties are a bit larger and a bit heavier and to my eye look a bit more utilitarian. I prefer too the *feel* of the S's. But that's just me. We're all right.

I opted for the "value" model SP1000. Without a self-timer IMO it's the best-looking Spotmatic model.

When I bought my Spotmatic in 1967, neither the SP500 or SP1000 were available. I probably would have bought one, as they were a little cheaper. I think I paid $220 for my Spotmatic with 55mm/1.8 lens. I really wanted the 50/1.4, but that was another $30. When you're a high school kid making $1.10/hour, that's a lot of money.
