"Clear" are probably for lens protection only (but should be a well coated filter to prevent reflection issues) if that's what you're after, but putting a UV barrier in there will do no harm.

If you are shooting at night or with high contrast scenes even coated filters can leave ghosts!

Pentax and others made non planar filters for night shots.

If you are shooting mono cloudy artistic shots you need set of contrast filters colour needs a pola filter
