E-Film

In yer olde days, when dslr were too expensive for the most, E-film was introduced:

E Film

It flopped, but i wonder, are there alternatives for it now a day?

I too very much wish efilm had hit the market, and with a current samsung sensor... damn that would be a fine camera no matter what.

I'd never heard of this until now. At least it proves that retrofitting 35mm SLRs is not out of the question. Surely there's a market out there for further development. I'd love to keep my MZ-M operating as a lightweight back-up to the K10D.

I remember the older salesperson talking about that when I picked up my LX at a local used camera shop. He said the bigger camera manufacturers bought the rights/patents so it would not be developed further. This lets them crank out new models every year to keep profits coming in.

Sadly, you can't even get slide or B&W film professionally processed in my province anymore; you have to mail it out and wait 3 or so weeks.

I look at medium format and their interchangeable backs and wonder...

I don't think it would have worked in a *ist... because of the right to left loading...

im pretty sure the *ist was not the only camera to use that style of loading so im sure they would have made one for those cameras as well.

Did any company at any point have an actual, working prototype of something like this?

It seems that there just would not be enough room for the sensor even taking the give in the pressure plate into account...

I previously posted you will see there were some serious limitations.
Surely those limitations would have been overcome with time and development. :ugh:

Leica's R8 had a digital back for it.

Kind of like an ashtray on a motorbike, from all reports.
