In about 20-30 years, they will be selling retro-cameras offering faux CMOS and CCD effects. Hipsters will be gaga for the digital pixel look!

The Jinglish is quite amusing too:– “The world seen from the viewfinder of Y35, might be a little slower, a little prettier, transporting us back to a time when we all pay a little bit more attention, and causing us to care each shot before clicking the shutter – because it must solid the first tie or the moment is lost.”

Yeah, it's an amazing effort. The original timeline has them shipped last April, latest "Update" (June) shows Autocad-ish looking "photographs" of a "protoype" and sample pics worthy of a low end smartphone.

"Some people" will fall for "anything" if it seems retro

This has hipster written all over it. I can't understand the appeal and wonder if the company making it did much research.

I'm not remotely offended by this idea - nor by anything else that constitutes a bit of harmless, if bizarre and absurd, nostalgia for its own sake. If you hand me one, it's not going to become a family heirloom or something, but I'll probably shoot with it for a while and be pleased and amused. This before handing it on to another aging "hipster."

Next stop - digi-cassette tapes, fairly simple - connect the "cassette" to your computer via usb, transfer strictly 90 minutes of music onto it, put the tape into the player and enjoy your music!

BTW, shooting the sample photos that supposedly show the capabilities/style of each "roll" could have been a fun challenge in itself... especially the ISO 1600 "film" add-on, which should have very poor DR, calculations suggest.
1/3.2" (same as iPhone 5) is 4.54 x 3.42... APS-C is 23.6 x 15.60, the ratio of sensor areas is 368.16 / 15.53 = 23.71, base 2 log is ~4.57...

So ISO 1600 on this thing is about the same as ISO 36000 on APS-C (roughly 4.5 stops)... it must have been fun placing the lights so the shot didn't have too much DR...

Well, it's not for me.

I do not shoot well enough to be able to afford using film – even faux-film.

Maybe it would be faux-money, but with my spray-and-pray technique even faux-money would make it an expensive hobby.

Right now I have to save all my faux-money to make my faux-bets on this fall's football games.

Their business. Now if someone would invent a digital recording media that could be inserted like a 35mm roll film THAT would be worth while!
