I am more about being lazy as to selling than I am collector. But I am a collector to an extent. Around 2006, when DSLRs had just advanced to "acceptable" image quality, while overpriced in my view, I was still shooting film mainly with my 2 PZ-1p bodies (one since 1997) or the ZX-5n, or the ZX-L. Film bodies already had become cheap as dirt since they were regarded as outmoded. All the above models had been discontinued, so I had picked up my 2nd PZ-1p new, as well as a 2nd ZX-L, both for very little. I would sometimes work with 2 cameras at events to save time when running out of film.

The MZ-S held its value much better, nonetheless later that year I bought a new one with battery grip at a reduced price from a California dealer. Now here is where my collector self came in. In 2007, a Chinese man who owned a Chinese restaurant was selling his silver (!) MZ-S in a city in Ohio not far from the one most of my cousins live in. It was in virtually mint condition. so I bought it in an e-bay auction at still far less than the USA price for a new black one. So I drove down from Michigan to pick it up and visit relatives. A Silver MZ-S is a rarity in the US, as they were not marketed here. I already had silver FA 77mm f/1.8 and FA 43mm f/1.9 Limiteds. I also had the Tokina 28-70mm ATX f/2.6-2.8 PRO II and a collection of smaller, lighter but very good lenses, including the FA 35mm f/2.

I had given away my beautiful 2 ME Supers, my first Pentax cameras, which served me exclusively for 7 years, and years after as 2nd bodies. So I picked up a used Super Program for next to nothing for use with my small M 40mm lens. I finally acquired the original *ist-D after it was being discontinued for a greatly reduced price. Then a bit later also the K100D. I used them mainly because I could change ISO at will and didn't have to buy film or processing. But for more serious shooting I still used my film gear.

I did not began using a DSLR more than film until around 2009 after I'd gotten my K-200D and also added the FA* 50-135mm lens. I was then satisfied with the image quality I was getting, so I added the K20D along with the DA 12-24mm f/4. As a discontinued model, I picked up a new Sigma EX 24-60mm f/2.8 for under $200.

Now having the K-5 IIs, K-S2, and KP also, I rarely shoot film, and when I do I mainly use an MZ-S or the PZ-1p. The ZX-L is great when I want to go extra light with a lightweight lens.

I've been on a dead lens mount motif for a while. I was lacking a Minolta SR body so I drove to Rochester, NY for a 'photo garage sale' put on by an art center there.

$20 for the SRT 201 & MC 50/1.7. Got a Vivitar 28mm in SR-mount and a Tamron Adaptall 2 SP 90mm F/2.5 Macro 52BB with an Olympus OM adapter for $15 each. The Tamron isn't as nice as my other copy, but now I can keep one attached to the SP 2X Flat-Field Teleconverter 01F.

I have six, all Pentax.

Two ZX-5 bodies bought new in '96 when I dumped my Canon gear, still working.
Three K1000 bodies bought four years ago, working (one loaned out).
One ZX-L body bought three years ago, working.

Want to use them more than I do.

This one will also be going to Garry's soon

It has a bump on the top plate. The serial # is in the Made in Japan range, but it is not engraved. The SE isn't engraved, and there was no sticker, but it has a spilt prism focusing screen with the micro prism ring.

This was in the same shopgoodwill lot which was sold by weight...

I've got 9 M42 bodies, 9 K-mount bodies, a 645 and a couple of 6x7s (MLU) for a total of 21 plus 30 lenses. The first 'collected' is my original Spotmatic w/f1.8 55mm (1970) and my father's Spotmatic which is about a year older. Nothing wildly exotic (no gold or diamond covered stuff). Somehow I have 3 MEFs, one with a mirror that looks like someone tried to remove it with a dinner fork. Apart from maybe 4, these all function. I've taken some lenses apart to deal with lubrication problems and to clean out a 55mm that somebody spilled Coke on. Other 35mm film cameras include Edixa, Mamiya Sekor, Miranda, Ricoh, Yashica, and there's some bigger gear (KOWA 66, Linhof and Koni-Omega 100). Original Pentax accessories include an original Copipod in the plastic sleeve and a traditional copy stand, adapters, etc. Too much, yes. Then there's the darkroom equipment (why else would you shoot film?) starting with my first Durst 609 (circa 1970) up to a Durst 138S (just in case Pentax decides to build a 5x7" view camera . . .). Finally, I must confess to not using this collection nearly enough, but I do have the best of intentions!

I have a Omega D2 and a D3. The D2 is getting setup as my enlarger, since the D3 is autofocus, and I don't want to deal with that at all. Fortunately, the D3 has a color head which I'm stealing off it for the D2. I doubt I'll ever shoot larger than a 4x5 if for no other reason than there is no way I could fit a larger enlarger in my dark room. I have 5 lenses that should cover most of what I might shoot (2x50 for 35mm, 75 for 6x4.5, 105 for 6x7, 150 for 4x5)

Because I like the shooting process? There is a certain magic to making wet prints, sure. But I don't remember being particularly skilled at it.

My film process is shoot -> develop -> scan -> edit. I have had a few of my film captures printed, but from the edited scan.

47 film cameras at last count. 3 are non-functional.

Of the Pentax variety, it looks something like this more or less currently.
