Added another Miranda today.
That is one I don't have, and it looks interesting. I wish there was a local camera swap meet, as I have many duplicates I need to trade,

Ooops, but that was the only empty top available to please on.

I had one a number of years back but sold away to get the MZ-S.

One thing I like about the Mirandas I have..... Once you get accustomed to the shutter release being on the front, you wonder why all makers didn't do it this way. It's very natural for the way I hold cameras, and I do believe I can hold a lot more still for some of the slower shutter speeds.

I suppose you could sort of fake it with a remote shutter cable...

Like a lot of products from dead companies, they always seem better in hindsight :P

My Miranda has the shutter release on top.
Several manufacturers made models with either type.

My Topcon bodies have front release. It's different but I'm not sure it's better (or worse).

Using both types my concern is my finger fumbling in the wrong place just at the critical moment...

Chris

Someone had a "bag of cameras" to give away. I put batteries in all of them, and only one of them isn't fully functional.....the SRT-101 has a non working meter. All the other cameras do what they are supposed to do. It took me while to figure out the Ricoh Super Shot.

Here's what they are:

Olympus OM-10 body
Minolta SRT-101 body
Minolta X-370 with Rokkor 50mm f1.7 lens
Chinon CM-7 with Chinon 50mm f1.7 lens
Canon EOS Elan body
Canon EOS Elan 7 body
Minolta Maxxum AF 5000 body
Ricoh Super Shot rangefinder camera with Rikenon 43mm f1.7

A pretty good score, I think. They were, literally, in a grocery bag.

The Super Shot may "work", but you'd have to run (and expose) film through it to be sure it really works correctly. If I recall correctly, you have to run film through it to actually see if it winds correctly. If wound correctly, it has automatic film transport (until the spring is unwound).

Shame about the SRT.

The SRT-101 will still work, using my Weston light meter. That's the beauty of them.

I put an exposed roll of junk film in the Ricoh, and yes you are correct. It has to have film in it to function.

I find one very useful function of bulk loader and ultra cheap Ultrafine film in 100ft rolls, is I can easily build short test rolls of 10-12 exposures to run quick tests to check the shutter and lens. Of course that requires you develop at home, but that’s easy enough too. I recently bought a cheap Minolta X-700 locally with a 50/1.7. First thing I did is load up a test roll and develop it, whereupon I discovered that on the top shutter speed the right half of the image is unexposed (leading shutter dragging, I assume.)

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I hate you.

I hit the pawn shops and thrift stores as much as I can and don’t seem to come across deals like you do.
