Well my collection has taken a turn really - the original intent was to have a collection of every camera I ever owned but having got started I decided I really didn't want a Polaroid or a Kodak 33 or even a Fujica (especially not at the money people pay for those these days) and the collection has mutated into being a kind of 'Best of' the big 5. I am going to offload some of the second stringer but I am aiming now at either historically significant or just an example of the best one of the big 5 could come up with. Must find time to actually take some pics though otherwise my other half will catch on

@John Brown

I had this Tamron, first I used it with a Ricoh XRX-3PF (loved this camera).
This lens is quite good, very compact and sharp at mid apertures and very cheap !

Last year I gave it to my nephew and he's very happy using it with his Nikon FM2

This one makes it two that I own. The ME also came with a Vivitar 70-150mm f1:3.8 "close focus lens. I don't know much about this one, except that is very solidly built.

Check the first two numbers of the serial number 28 = Komine manufacturing - and will indeed be solidly built while 22 = Kiron - also solid but may have a slow aperture due to oily blades....

but you probably already know this...

Another one of these. All it needed was a battery. I love Spotmatics.

Well I have finally reached stop point with mine - last two I will buy for some time now as I really need to (a) get going with taking some actual photos and (b) need to raise the scratch to get each one professionally CLA'd

First up is a Minolta SRT101 I got off eBay. It was in super shabby condition but some love and attention has got it all mostly working apart from the meter which is running buy way out of whack. Checked the prism, the photocells etc and everything works it just didn't meter correctly (the adjuster for it will make it move but only by about 1 stop and its 4 stops out ). The final bag was a Canon FTb off eBay. Overall great but the prism had a mild touch of fungus, film counter window had detached and surprise surprise the seals had gone completely. I don't mind the seals being shot to bits - if they are really dried out it makes them a lot easier to clean off. Other than that the FTB is perfect, good cosmetics, someone has adjusted it for 1.5v batteries, super smooth winder and fairly clean FL lens.

I now have what I consider to be the best that each of the big 5 could assemble in the golden age - not necessarily the best they ever made but in each case a groundbreaker and a good example of the art of making a magic box.

I did a timeline for the collection and its quite interesting to see them in the light of what was around at the time.

A minimal collection

Pentax sf-7
Pentax MZ-6
Pentax MZ-30

Various lenses.
On the buy list is a good K1000. Had a major brain fart and sold a really good one and now feel the itch to shoot fully mechanical again.
Theres a couple of others that I would like namely a P30/50 and a Pentax Super Program.
